Hybrid Volunteer Internship January to June

WASD invites applications for its Global Digital Communications, Research and Analytics Internship Programme. This six month unpaid hybrid internship offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to contribute to sustainable development communications across four regional teams to Africa, Middle East, Asia, and Europe and the Americas.

Interns may specialise in one of three core pathways

• Digital Communications and Content Production

• Research and Content Insights

• Digital Platforms and Analytics

This programme combines remote work with bimonthly in person meetups in London. It is open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students as well as graduates within two years. International students based in the United Kingdom are welcome to apply.

1. Digital Communications and Content Production Intern

What You Will Do

• Produce digital communications that translate sustainable development research and SDG insights into accessible content

• Rewrite academic and policy material into clear LinkedIn posts, captions and visual concepts

• Support monthly content planning across your chosen regional team

• Develop region specific storytelling that aligns with WASD’s academic tone and communication standards

• Work with research interns to ensure accuracy and clarity of all content

• Prepare drafts for review by the Digital Platforms Coordinator to WASD Global Communications

2. Research and Content Insights Intern

What You Will Do

• Review academic papers, policy documents and conference material related to sustainable development in your regional team

• Extract key insights and generate concise research summaries for communication use

• Identify trends, challenges and opportunities in SDG progress within your chosen region

• Provide evidence based input for monthly content planning and regional knowledge sharing

• Collaborate with digital communications interns to ensure content is research informed and academically sound

• Submit research outputs for review by the Digital Platforms Coordinator to WASD Global Communications

3. Digital Platforms and Analytics Intern

What You Will Do

• Schedule and publish approved content across assigned WASD digital platforms

• Track engagement metrics, audience patterns and platform performance

• Prepare monthly analytics summaries to support digital decision making

• Ensure consistent posting across your regional pages in coordination with communications and research interns

• Monitor digital trends that may strengthen outreach and visibility for your regional team

• Share monthly analytics findings with the Digital Platforms Coordinator to WASD Global Communications

• Students and graduates interested in sustainable development and social impact

• Applicants building a portfolio in content creation, research or analytics

• Those seeking experience in global communications, policy or higher education sectors

• Students who require a flexible hybrid structure during exam periods

Candidate Requirements

• Student or graduate within two years

• Strong written English

• Demonstrated interest in one of the four regions

• Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines

• Able to attend bimonthly London meetups

• No prior experience required although portfolios or module based work are welcome
