Role Description
This is a Full time on-site role for a Staff Software Engineer at Neon Blue located in San Francisco, CA. The Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for Back End web development, software development, programming, and object-oriented programming (OOP).
Primary Responsibilities (75%)
Own the Experimentation API endpoints: Maintain and enhance our custom-built experimentation platform API that powers our portal team's customer-facing features. Ensure high availability, set up new environments, and build new routes to support feature rollouts.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with our highly technical portal team to design and implement experiment-backed features for customers. Propose and debate implementation approaches to find optimal solutions.
Python & Infrastructure Development: Write production-grade Python code for API endpoints and data processing, interfacing with Snowflake and our custom data infrastructure. Collaborate with TypeScript-based portal team to deliver seamless integrations.
Secondary Responsibilities (25%)
Data Platform Support: Pick up analytics tasks and build Python-based visualizations and dashboards using SignOz and standard Python viz libraries. Support the data team with light statistical analysis and exploratory data work as needed.
Infrastructure & Orchestration: Work with our modern data stack including Snowflake, AWS (CDK), and orchestration tools. Help build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure components during non-API sprint cycles.
Platform Reliability: Join the on-call rotation to ensure our experimentation platform remains available and performant for internal teams and customer-facing applications.
Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles
Strong Python proficiency with experience building and maintaining production APIs
Snowflake expertise, including data modeling, query optimization, and integration patterns
AWS experience, particularly with CDK for infrastructure as code
Experimentation platform background - experience with A/B testing systems, feature flags, or experimentation infrastructure (huge plus)
Self-directed problem solver who thrives with context switching and can balance multiple priorities
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in healthy technical debates and propose implementation strategies
Nice to have: TypeScript experience, Airflow/Dagster knowledge, E-commerce or B2B SaaS background
