Data Modeller (Payments)

Contract | Hybrid | Banking – Payments Modernization

About the program

Define conceptual, logical, and physical data models enabling real-time payments, compliance, and analytics across the modernized stack.

What you’ll do

Develop enterprise payment data models (conceptual/logical/physical) and canonical models.
Map ISO 20022 message structures (and/or ISO 8583) to domain entities; define transformation rules.
Design event schemas (Kafka) and API payloads; govern schema versioning and lineage.
Collaborate with DB Engineers (MongoDB) to ensure performance and data quality.
Drive reference data, metadata standards, and data governance (catalog, glossary, stewardship).
Support migration from legacy data stores; reconcile and validate data.

Must-have skills

Proven data modeling for complex financial domains; UML/ER, JSON schema, Avro/Protobuf.
Experience with ISO 20022 message sets (pain, pacs, camt), payments lifecycle modeling.
Strong collaboration across architecture, engineering, and business analysis.
Understanding of event-driven design and streaming data contracts.

Big plus: ISO knowledge

Formal expertise in ISO 20022 and/or ISO 8583 with practical mapping experience.

Nice to have (Payments domain)

Familiarity with wires, ACH, RTP, Interac flows; sanctions screening data; tokenization and wallets.
Experience setting up data governance tooling and practices for regulated environments.
