About the Role

A leading utility-scale solar developer is hiring its first dedicated software/data engineer to support the full project lifecycle with geospatial data, automation, and internal tooling. This company develops large-scale solar assets and is expanding into adjacent businesses, including repurposing sites for data centers and other power-intensive applications.

The company now needs someone who can build software, streamline workflows, integrate data systems, and make geospatial insights accessible across Development and EPC teams.

This is a high-impact, high-ceiling role within a growing team of ~25 people, ideal for someone early in their career who is sharp, technical, and eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Software + Data Engineering

Build internal software tools that support solar development and EPC workflows.
Automate GIS processes and convert geospatial inputs into actionable insights.
Integrate and manage data across Snowflake, AWS, GCP, and internal systems.
Streamline backend processes and improve system architecture.

GIS / Geospatial Support

Support stakeholders with mapping, siting, and spatial analysis needs.
Work closely with the existing GIS Analyst to enhance GIS capabilities.
Improve geospatial data availability across teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner directly with Development, EPC, and Operations teams.
Report to a technical lead who manages software/data for the broader business.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to building their internal development culture.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must-Haves

1–3 years of professional experience in software, data, or geospatial work.
Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving mindset.
Coding proficiency (Python, SQL).
US Citizen.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or similar.

Nice-to-Haves

GIS experience (Esri, QGIS, geospatial libraries).
Snowflake, AWS, or GCP familiarity.
Experience at small software/tech companies (sub-50 employees), geospatial startups, or companies like Cesium, Intersect, Paces.AI, or Anderson Optimization.

Soft Traits

Fast learner, curious, and willing to build new skills.
Comfortable working in a lean, startup-like environment.
Able to interact with senior leadership, including the COO.

Why This Role Is Exciting

High ceiling: First full-time internal software/data hire with room to grow quickly.
Impact: Directly shapes internal systems and tooling used across development and EPC.
Industry: Large-scale solar + emerging opportunities in data centers and power markets.
Exposure: Close interaction with executives and technical leads.
Development: Company invests in talent—team members attend programs like Yale leadership courses.
Environment: Startup feel with real revenue, large projects, and a small, tight-knit team.
