Director, Information Services and Privacy – Permanent Full-Time
Position Summary:
The Director, Information Services and Privacy provides strategic and operational leadership for information technology and information services at Runnymede Healthcare Centre. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role is responsible for advancing the organization’s IT strategy, overseeing technology operations, and ensuring secure, reliable, and innovative systems that support clinical and business objectives. A key focus of the role is strengthening cyber/privacy security, managing resources and budgets, and leading a high-performing Information Services team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, monitor, and execute the Information Services strategic plan and budget in alignment with the Hospital’s vision and priorities.
Build strong partnerships with clinical leaders, senior management, and external partners to align technology solutions with organizational needs.
Proactively lead cyber security strategy, incident response, audits, and risk mitigation to protect data integrity and system security.
Oversee configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems, telephony, and technology infrastructure.
Lead hospital-wide privacy programs, ensuring compliance with PHIPA, FIPPA, and other legislative requirements.
Review and provide recommendations on Privacy Impact Assessments, Threat Impact Assessments, Data Sharing Agreements, contracts, and partnerships.
Actively participate in relevant committees and monitor the effectiveness of privacy-related risk mitigation, compliance measures, and Electronic Medical Records from a Health Information perspective.
Lead system integration, automation initiatives, and IT projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and performance standards are met.
Establish and maintain standards, policies, and procedures for information services and technology operations.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Information Services team, including resource planning, recruitment, and performance management.
Negotiate, administer, and monitor technology and service contracts to ensure compliance with performance standards and organizational requirements.
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and business cases.
Lead system integration, automation initiatives, and IT projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and performance standards are met.
Monitor emerging healthcare IT trends and report to senior leadership on performance, risks, and cyber security posture.
Fosters a culture of safety for patients and staff by adhering to safety training, reporting incidents, and following safe work procedures.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications/experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent required.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in information systems, local area computer networks.
Experience and knowledge with health information management and privacy required.
Leadership experience within a healthcare setting.
Expertise in information systems strategy, cyber security principles, infrastructure management, and system integration.
Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to privacy, ROI, healthcare information systems and data security.
Ability to perform effectively under stressful or emergency situations.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
