Texas HHSC is seeking a Microsoft Sentinel Detection & SOAR Engineer (Software Developer II) to support DSHS cybersecurity initiatives. This role focuses on hands-on engineering of Microsoft Sentinel SOAR, UEBA, and SIEM content, operating with limited supervision and strong technical ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and deploy Sentinel SOAR automation playbooks using Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, ARM templates, and REST APIs. Build automated workflows for alert enrichment, triage, response actions, notifications, and case management. Develop UEBA detection rules, behavioral analytics, anomaly models, and advanced KQL hunting queries. Create and maintain analytics rules, dashboards, workbooks, data parsers, and detection-as-code assets. Design custom connectors and ingestion pipelines while tuning the SIEM platform to reduce noise and align with MITRE ATT&CK and Zero Trust principles. Develop supporting scripts and integrations using Python, PowerShell, .NET, or similar languages. Produce technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs, and provide Tier III Sentinel engineering support.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in software development, cloud engineering, SIEM, or cybersecurity engineering
Preferred:
• 3+ years hands-on Microsoft Sentinel
• SOAR playbook and UEBA development experience
• Azure DevOps / CI-CD experience
• Microsoft security certifications (SC-200, SC-300, SC-100, AZ-900/104)
• Government, healthcare, or regulated environment experience
