Job Overview

We are seeking a Data Protection Specialist to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and compliance of sensitive data across the organization. This role involves implementing robust data protection measures, managing compliance with global privacy regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and respond to incidents. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of data protection laws, hands-on experience with security tools, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance & Governance

Ensure adherence to data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, HIPAA) and internal security policies.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and systems.

2. Risk Management

Identify and assess risks related to data handling and propose mitigation strategies.
Monitor and audit data protection controls regularly.

3. Policy Development & Enforcement

Develop and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Implement controls for data classification, encryption, and secure storage.

4. Incident Response & Breach Management

Investigate and respond to data breaches or security incidents promptly.
Coordinate with legal and compliance teams for reporting and remediation.

5. Data Lifecycle Management

Oversee secure data collection, processing, storage, and disposal practices.
Ensure proper handling of personal and sensitive data across systems.

6. Training & Awareness

Conduct training sessions for employees on data protection best practices.
Promote awareness of privacy obligations and secure data handling.

7. Reporting & Documentation

Prepare compliance reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Maintain detailed documentation of policies, incidents, and audits.

Qualifications

Experience:

3–5 years in data protection, privacy compliance, or information security.
Familiarity with DLP (Data Loss Prevention) tools and data security technologies.

Skills:

Strong understanding of global data protection regulations.
Experience with encryption, access control, and secure data transfer methods.
Proficiency in risk assessment and incident management.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:

Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CISSP.
Experience with cloud security and privacy frameworks.
