AI Engineer (Senior to Staff)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Remote (USA)

Compensation: $170,000–$300,000 base + equity

We are working with a fast-growing, VC-backed SaaS company that is using AI to modernize a traditionally manual, document-heavy, and high-trust industry. The company is hybrid in the Bay Area, well-funded, and at a stage where AI is becoming core to the product rather than an add on.

They are hiring AI Engineers across seniority levels to help design, build, and scale production LLM-powered features used by customers every day.

What you’ll work on

Build and ship AI-powered features embedded directly into the core product
Design and scale retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems over proprietary, domain-specific data
Develop LLM-based services for document understanding, reasoning, and agentic workflows
Own AI systems end to end, from experimentation and evaluation to deployment and monitoring
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver real customer impact

What they’re looking for

Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience shipping AI or data-driven systems to production
Hands-on experience working with LLMs and modern AI tooling (OpenAI, Anthropic, embeddings, vector search, etc.)
Comfort operating across the full lifecycle of AI features, including evaluation and iteration
An ownership mindset and interest in building systems that scale and last

Nice-to-have experience includes working with unstructured documents, building RAG pipelines, or operating in regulated or high-trust environments.
