Overview

We’re partnering with a venture-backed startup at an early but fast-moving stage, building a product that’s already live and actively used in real-world environments.

They’re hiring a Founding Full Stack Engineer to play a key role in shaping the product, technical direction, and engineering culture as the company grows.

This is a role for a genuine builder - someone who wants to move quickly, stay close to users, and see their work reach production without layers of process in the way.

Why this hire exists

Demand for the product is already strong, and the next phase of growth depends on strengthening the engineering foundations while continuing to ship at pace.

This hire will:

Increase delivery capacity
Influence long-term technical decisions
Help define how engineering operates as the team scales

You won’t be maintaining legacy systems - you’ll be helping define what gets built and how.

What you’ll spend your time on

Building full-stack features end to end, from idea through to production
Working closely with users to understand workflows and translate them into software
Making pragmatic decisions around architecture, tooling, and trade-offs
Shipping frequently and iterating based on real usage and feedback
Partnering closely with product and design to keep solutions simple and effective
Using AI tooling thoughtfully to improve development speed and product capability

This is a hands-on role with broad scope and a high degree of trust.

Engineering environment

The team favours proven, modern technologies to optimise for clarity and speed:

Frontend: React
Backend: Node.js–based framework
Language: TypeScript across the stack
Data: PostgreSQL
Infrastructure: AWS

AI tools are actively encouraged, with freedom to explore and apply them responsibly.

About you

This role will suit someone who:

Has 5+ years experience building product-focused, full-stack software
Is confident working with React and comfortable across backend systems
Thinks beyond code and cares about usability and outcomes
Enjoys fast-paced, early-stage environments
Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Has experimented with AI tools as part of their development workflow
