Job Description

Work within the Safety, Reliability, Maintainability and Testability Team assisting with analyses and presentations, which will include interfacing with and hardware, software, systems, test and support engineering.

Duties will include but not limited to the following:

Requirements analysis, traceability and verification in DOORS
Reliability/Maintainability prediction analyses, including but not limited to component analysis, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) on existing/developing electronic and mechanical products.
Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
Perform product safety analyses including Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA).
Documentation of RMT&S analyses results (reports)
Software Safety Analysis of Software releases to customers
Prepare and present RMT&S status for program gate reviews with customers

Qualifications

Required

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical or scientific discipline
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly document technical findings
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work within structured, process-driven engineering environments
Enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to learn, while taking ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables

Assets

Exposure to requirements definition, traceability, and verification activities, including familiarity with requirements or defect tracking tools such as DOORS or JIRA
Academic or practical experience with reliability, maintainability, or safety analysis concepts, including structured failure or risk analysis techniques
Familiarity with system verification and validation processes or system-level testing activities
Experience producing technical documentation, including analysis summaries, reports, or engineering presentations
Exposure to hardware and software interfacing within complex systems or embedded environments
Experience supporting technical reviews or program milestones, including preparation of status material or presentations
Basic experience with scripting or programming for analysis, data handling, or automation purposes (for example, Python or PowerShell)

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

Additional Information

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $23.08 – $32.41. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
