Compliance Manager (Project Delivery)

Consumer Credit Business

Temporary Contract (3 months)

Immediate Start | Remote or Hybrid (London)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced FCA Compliance Manager to join a consumer credit business on an initial three-month temporary contract, supporting a number of time-sensitive regulatory and change initiatives.

This role is ideally suited to a compliance professional with strong consumer credit experience, gained within a second line of defence environment at a regulated financial services firm. You will be comfortable working independently, documenting regulatory advice and decisions, identifying and managing regulatory risk, and making practical recommendations to move projects forward.

You will report into the Head of Risk & Compliance (SMF16), who will provide oversight and act as an escalation point. While the role has no direct line management responsibilities, you will work closely with a wider team of risk, compliance and financial crime professionals across the business.

The role can be fully remote, or hybrid, with an expectation of attending a London office at least one day per week if hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a key compliance point of contact on strategic regulatory change projects, particularly relating to consumer credit.
Provide clear, pragmatic compliance advice, guidance and recommendations, escalating issues as appropriate.
Produce timely and accurate risk and compliance MI, including:
Documenting regulatory decisions
Preparing Regulatory Risk Assessments
Supporting Consumer Duty product and outcome assessments
Review and challenge policies, processes, marketing materials, agent scripts and training content for regulatory compliance.
Test regulatory controls and analyse MI to identify regulatory gaps or poor customer outcomes.
Support the business in implementing, documenting and monitoring remedial actions where issues are identified.
Ensure all Board-level and FCA notifications, reporting and communications are managed appropriately and within required timeframes.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with other second line and oversight functions across the wider group.
Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and contribute to reporting for senior leadership.
Undertake additional tasks as agreed with the Head of Risk & Compliance.

Skills & Experience Required

6+ years’ experience within a second line FCA-regulated compliance function, and/or experience working with the FCA or an equivalent regulator.
Strong working knowledge of key FCA handbooks, including:
CONC, DISP, PROD, PRIN, COCON and SYSC
A strong understanding of the FCA’s expectations relating to Consumer Duty and vulnerable customers.
Demonstrable experience delivering and supporting regulatory change initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders, tailoring complex regulatory messages to different audiences.
Strong change and project management capability, including the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple deadlines.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with the confidence to make recommendations and informed decisions.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and hybrid teams.

Desirable Experience

Experience with regulatory risk assessments, risk registers or enterprise risk frameworks.
Working knowledge of data protection and/or financial crime requirements.
