Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin / Spring Boot / AWS)

Location: Longpont-sur-Orge (91), France – Hybrid (according to client policy)

Contract: Long-term freelance mission (6 months with extensions)

Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

Languages: French and English (mandatory)

About

As part of the creation of a new cloud-native backend platform, our client is building a small squad of backend engineers to design, develop, and deploy a scalable and observable backend solution integrated with AWS services.

You will work in a cross-functional Agile team alongside an Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Product Owner, contributing to the delivery of the first production-ready version of the platform.

Responsibilities

Design and develop backend services and microservices using Kotlin and Spring Boot
Deliver a robust, scalable, and reliable cloud-native backend platform
Integrate backend services with AWS components and services
Contribute to platform observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing
Participate in CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes-based deployments
Ensure clean code practices, testing, documentation, and security standards
Collaborate effectively within an Agile, cross-functional team

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer
Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot
Solid understanding of AWS and cloud-native architecture patterns
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
Good understanding of Kubernetes and containerised environments
Strong backend fundamentals within the Java ecosystem
Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Ability to work in a hybrid model in Longpont-sur-Orge (91)
Fluent in both French and English
