We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a newly formed scrum team working on a large-scale, data-driven platform within a highly regulated public sector environment. This role focuses on developing and enhancing core data acquisition, ingestion, and risking services that support critical analytics and decision-making.
The Role
You'll play a key role in designing and delivering scalable data pipelines and integration services, consolidating multiple data sources into a unified, high-performance platform. The work supports complex analytical and BI workloads using modern data engineering, AWS, and DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and deploy data integration and transformation solutions
Develop scalable data pipelines and services for analytics and BI platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver robust solutions
Contribute to Agile/Scrum delivery and continuous improvement
Implement DevOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment
Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are met
Troubleshoot complex data and performance issues
Support and mentor junior engineers where required
Key Skills & Experience
Strong ETL experience with Pentaho and Talend
Data virtualisation experience using Denodo
SAS experience for data analytics and reporting
Strong SQL and data modelling skills
Hands-on AWS experience supporting data platforms and pipelines
DevOps experience (eg Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes)
Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Contract Details
£530 per day (Inside IR35)
Hybrid - Telford (2 days per week on-site)
6-month initial contract
SC clearance required
