Job Specifications

Job Title: Java Backend Engineer – Spring Boot & Kubernetes

Location: Sheffield

Work Mode: Hybrid

Key Skills Required

Strong backend development experience using Java (8+)

Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot (REST APIs, Microservices)

Experience building and deploying containerised applications (Docker)

Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, config maps, secrets)

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)

Good understanding of microservices architecture

Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL / Oracle)

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)

Knowledge of security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, API security)

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable Java backend services using Spring Boot

Build and maintain microservices running on Kubernetes

Collaborate with DevOps teams for containerisation and deployments

Ensure application performance, reliability, and security

Participate in code reviews, testing, and production support

Work closely with frontend, QA, and architecture teams
