Domain Architect – Operational Technology (OT)

Duration - 6 months contract with high possibility of extension
Role Overview
The Domain Architect – Operational Technology (OT) plays a critical role in shaping the architecture, governance, and evolution of industrial and mining OT systems for operations in Vale Brasil and Vale Canada. This role leads the integration of traditional OT systems with modern technologies such as Industrial IoT, Cloud, Advanced Automation, and OT Cybersecurity, supporting Mining 4.0, sustainability, and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Define, document, and govern OT architecture standards aligned with IT, Cloud, and industrial automation systems
Design and support real-time control, monitoring, and automation solutions with high availability and resilience
Lead OT modernization initiatives including edge/cloud integration, digital twins, predictive analytics, and automation
Implement OT cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443, NIST), vulnerability management, and incident response
Drive collaboration between OT and IT teams for secure and scalable integrations
Develop technical documentation, governance policies, and contingency plans
Support innovation strategies focused on sustainability and environmental impact reduction
Partner with vendors and global stakeholders on OT solutions
Train technical teams and promote OT safety and innovation culture
Required Qualifications (Hard Skills)
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computing, Industrial Systems, or related fields
8+ years of experience in OT architecture, engineering, or leadership roles (industrial or mining sector)
Strong expertise in SCADA, DCS, PLCs, RTUs, IoT sensors, and industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Profibus)
Experience with OT/IT integration, edge computing, digital twins, predictive analytics, and industrial data platforms
Strong knowledge of OT cybersecurity, IEC 62443, NIST, and operational continuity
Hands-on experience with Industrial Cloud platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, Google Cloud)
Knowledge of governance, compliance, sustainability, and ESG standards
Fluent English and Advanced Portuguese (Brazil–Canada collaboration)

Nice to Have
