Job Title: Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Backend-Focused)

Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our e-underwriting platform team, supporting rules-based technologies that power multiple commercially offered insurance products. This is a senior role requiring deep backend expertise, strong testing discipline, and hands-on CI/CD experience.

This position is backend-heavy. Candidates must demonstrate senior-level engineering depth; mid-level profiles (4–7 years) are not a fit.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, deploy, and support API-based and web applications with a cloud-first mindset
Independently deliver REST API solutions from concept through production
Develop and maintain robust unit and integration test coverage aligned to acceptance criteria
Build and support CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins preferred; comparable tools acceptable)
Collaborate within a Scrum team to solve complex, often ambiguous technical problems
Apply industry best practices for coding, testing, security, and deployment
Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical documentation
Troubleshoot production issues and support new build deployments
Identify, track, and remediate vulnerabilities while staying current on security threats
Work closely with Architects, Product, DevOps, QA, and Engineering to deliver business value

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of professional software engineering experience or a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
2+ years of recent full stack development experience on Java-based platforms
Strong backend development experience (Java, Groovy, Spring Boot)
Proven experience executing unit testing and some integration testing (3+ years)
Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
REST API design and development experience
Frontend experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Jest, and React Testing Library
Experience with MongoDB
Jenkins and Gradle experience (or equivalent CI/CD tooling)
Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Clear, concise communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
