Job Description:
We are seeking a mission-driven Product Owner to guide development of an early-stage software product focused on solving major water utility challenges—such as meeting customer demand, aging infrastructure, water conservation, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
You will collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and industry experts to build intelligent water management solutions, including real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and cloud-based platforms for utility operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in SaaS, industrial IoT, or AI/ML applied to the utilities or infrastructure sector.

Key Responsibilities
· Define and manage the product backlog, acting as the voice of the customer for Agile development teams.
· Write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria based on water utility operational needs.
· Conduct stakeholder interviews and demos to collect feedback and validate ideas.
· Participate in and drive Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews.
· Collaborate with software engineering, UI/UX, and data science teams to integrate IoT, AI, and cloud technologies.
· Ensure product compliance with relevant water industry regulations (EPA, AWWA, state/local standards).
· Balance short-term goals with long-term strategic product vision, working closely with Product and Project Managers.
· Coordinate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, customers, and external technology partners.
· Help track roadmap progress and proactively resolve blockers to meet objectives.
· Lead user acceptance testing, engage with stakeholders and create documentation as needed to ensure successful product/feature releases.

Qualifications
· 5+ years of experience in business analysis, product ownership or product management —preferably in water, utilities, infrastructure, or industrial IoT space.
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, environmental science, business or related field.
· Strong familiarity with water utility operations: SCADA, AMI/AMR systems, leak detection, and predictive maintenance.
· Hands-on experience with B2B SaaS platforms, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data analytics tools.
· Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean).
· Familiarity with Figma and Atlassian suite – especially Jira, Confluence and Product Discovery.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially in working with public utilities, municipalities, and regulators.
· Experience with Asset management or GIS-based tools is a plus.
· Product Management certification or relevant water/utility industry credentials are advantageous but not required.
· Web development experience is also advantageous but not required.
