Duties

Help

Serves as an expert Security Specialist in the Risk Management Division, leading a compartmented, highly qualified, handpicked team executing the personnel, information, and industrial security programs.
Coordinates with other officials regarding security measures for the overall protection, classification, safeguarding, transmission, declassification, and destruction of classified information.
Develops and implements program protection plans across a wide variety of operational activities.
Develops and maintains comprehensive SOPs to ensure the proper execution of multi-discipline security programs across a diverse portfolio of facilities and activities.
Coordinates and monitors Executive Branch programs and assists in efforts to ensure these programs comply with Executive Orders, Federal Laws, National Security Directives, Defense Directives, and so on.
Coordinates with offices, agencies, commissions, and departments, including the White House, all branches of government, and industry principals within the private sector.
Analyzes, plans, and implements Operations Security (OPSEC) procedures to ensure protection of critical information throughout all phases of operations.

This is a special sensitive position which will require the incumbent to be the subject of a Special Background Investigation conducted IAW DoD Directive 5210.55.
Position also requires access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and may be subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph IAW DoD Directive 5210.48.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Security Specialist Leader your resume and supporting documentation must support: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Supports security programs with responsibility to develop and implement security guidance for the protection of facilities and information.
Exercises initiative in the planning, creating, managing, and implementing of personnel, information, industrial, and operations security, intelligence support, and counterintelligence programs, and subsequently reviews, monitors, and enforces these programs.
Leads an experienced team or personally participates as a technical expert in interagency study groups for resolving problems in existing security systems and programs.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
