Who Are We?

Founded in 2014, CadMakers is an industry-leading digital construction and manufacturing technology company headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. We are dedicated to delivering cutting-edge digital solutions to the global construction industry tackling the most complex yet common problems in the field, empowering our clients with transformative tools and expertise .

Our Product

Developed by CadMakers, cmBuilder.io is a fast-growing visual construction planning software platform that is redefining how construction projects are planned, communicated, and delivered. Our fully web-based platform enables construction teams to create dynamic 3D site logistics models and 4D simulations, allowing construction companies to build their projects in the digital world before breaking ground in the real one, enabling smarter decisions, smoother execution, and more wins.

With rapid adoption across North America, Europe, and Australia, cmBuilder is on a mission to democratize construction tech by making it more accessible, intuitive, and impactful .

What is the role?

We're looking for a Product Designer to join our team and make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, highly collaborative product environment. In this role, you'll help shape the core experience of cmBuilder by crafting new experiences and continuously improving existing ones to make the product better for our users.

You'll work closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to turn business goals, user needs, and creative strategy into user-centered, effective, intuitive, and visually polished experiences.

Just like us, you enjoy learning, being challenged, and challenging others to grow. You bring curiosity, strong opinions loosely held, and creative ideas to the table, using thoughtful design to solve real problems.

Responsibilities

Make a visible impact on the product by improving everyday usability and shaping new features, including ambiguous projects where you help define and craft solutions in close partnership with product management
Work directly with customers by planning and facilitating research, learning their language, and translating real-world problems into clear, actionable design direction
Operate with a high level of ownership and autonomy, driving projects forward, asking the right questions, making informed design decisions, and clearly communicating the reasoning behind them
Use a range of prototyping methods for iterative feedback and gathering insights
Communicate design concepts and decisions clearly to stakeholders, engineers, and collaborators
Collaborate closely with teammates, constructively challenging each other and holding the bar high for quality and craft
Contribute to and evolve our design system, using it consistently, maintaining it, and identifying opportunities to improve and extend it

Requirements

3+ years of experience in Product/UX/UI design
Strong user-centered design approach, with experience solving problems in complex or technical domains
Comfortable working in ambiguity, collaborating to help define problems and requirements, and not just execute predefined tasks
Has a technical mindset and curiosity about how designs get built. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should ask good questions and collaborate effectively with engineers
Demonstrates curiosity and hands-on experience with emerging AI tools, especially for accelerating workflows, enhancing creativity, and gathering feedback
Experience working with design systems, including designing at a pattern level and creating frameworks others can build on
Strong UI craft, with a clear eye for clean design and disciplined use of proven industry and internal patterns
Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus, but not required

When applying for this role, please attach your portfolio or leave a link to your portfolio in the questionnaire.

Benefits

$75,000 - $115,000 CAD yearly salary range (commensurate with relevant experience)
Workplace: Onsite position at our office in Burnaby, BC; with Hybrid Flex Option (2 days WFH)
