Role - Head of Engineering

Location - Surrey

Salary - £85,000 - £120,000

Senior leadership role overseeing the full product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and alignment with business goals. Responsible for shaping technology roadmaps, driving innovation, and managing a high-performing engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams and the Engineering Manager, ensuring delivery of product roadmap and personal development.
Oversee NPD projects, meeting cost, quality, and schedule targets.
Provide technical authority: make architectural decisions, support design, and ensure engineering outcomes align with customer and business objectives.
Partner with sales, supporting pre-sales, feasibility, technical documentation, and occasionally on-site customer support.
Ensure product support for existing systems (obsolescence, upgrades, certifications, production).
Drive innovation, process optimization, sustainability, and quality improvements.
Manage KPIs, compliance with ISO standards, and continuous reporting.

Skills & Experience:

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (MSc/BSc); strong background in electronics/physics.
5+ years leading engineering teams in tech-led businesses.
Project management expertise with proven delivery.
Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management.
Commercial awareness; optoelectronics knowledge advantageous.
