Edison Smart are looking for a VP of Engineering to join a leadership team building a fast-growing, cross-platform AI assistant used by both consumers and enterprise clients.

This organisation is focused on delivering high-performance, enterprise-ready AI products that integrate seamlessly into everyday work. Their platform supports both on-premise and cloud deployments and is built with scalability, reliability, and user experience at its core.

Role Summary

As VP of Engineering, you will own the engineering roadmap for a cross-platform AI product area of 30+ engineers. You’ll be responsible for scaling a high-quality product that serves both direct-to-consumer and enterprise use cases, while solving complex technical challenges in AI and machine learning.

You will play a key role in the leadership team, shaping technical strategy and accelerating product adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Vision & Strategy

Define and drive the technical vision and engineering roadmap in collaboration with founders and product leaders
Ensure alignment with business goals and market needs across consumer and enterprise segments

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner closely with product management to define, prioritise, and deliver new features
Adapt priorities and roadmap based on user feedback and data

Delivery & Execution

Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across teams
Balance speed of iteration with long-term platform stability and scalability

Technical Leadership

Act as the senior technical authority, guiding teams through complex technical decisions
Stay current with advancements in AI, ML, and conversational technologies

Scale & Structure

Build engineering foundations that support rapid growth
Establish best practices for scalable, efficient product development across D2C and B2B

Performance & Metrics

Define and track KPIs to measure product and platform performance
Use data-driven insights to continuously optimise systems and processes

About You

10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in senior leadership roles
Strong experience building and scaling large-scale systems
Proven success delivering products for both consumer and enterprise markets
Background in AI, ML, LLMs, or conversational AI is highly desirable
Product-focused with strong commercial and business awareness
Experienced in scaling, structuring, and leading high-performing teams
Pragmatic, outcome-driven, and able to balance short-term delivery with long-term vision
Strong problem-solving skills
Fluent in English
