The role

We’re hiring a Backend Engineer with 2+ years of experience building production Ruby on Rails applications to join us as an early engineering hire. While this role is backend-leaning, you’ll also contribute to front-end features as needed, owning work end to end across the stack.

You’ll build systems that power our client-facing products, internal legal tools, and partner integrations. This is a rare opportunity to take real ownership and help shape both our product and engineering practices from the ground up.

What you’ll work on

Building and shipping backend features in Ruby on Rails
Designing APIs, data models, and business logic for complex workflows
Contributing to front-end features when needed (React)
Developing end-to-end features across client, internal, and partner tools
Writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
Improving performance, reliability, and system quality

What you bring to the table

2+ years of professional software engineering experience
Production experience with Ruby on Rails
Comfort working across the stack, with a backend focus
Strong fundamentals in backend development and relational database
Product-minded, collaborative, and comfortable with ambiguity

Nice to have

Experience in startup or fast-paced product environments
Familiarity with React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, or GraphQL
Experience in regulated or complex domains
