Role OverviewCogency is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Developer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial sector. This role is critical for the evolution of our high-stakes banking platforms, specifically within Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage, or Secured Funding. You will lead the development of end-to-end solutions, from high-performance Java backends and complex SQL optimization to modern, responsive frontends in Angular and React.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Design: Analyze business requirements to design scalable, secure solutions that align with enterprise technology architecture standards.End-to-End Development: Lead the development of new applications and the refactoring of legacy systems, including rewriting complex SQL queries for performance optimization.Process Excellence: Adhere to and champion SDLC, CI/CD, and DevOps processes, maintaining rigorous design documentation and code quality standards.Stakeholder Management: Act as a technical bridge, providing project plans, effort estimations, and transparent status updates to stakeholders and Business Analysts.Security & Compliance: Ensure all development adheres to secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10) and enterprise compliance standards.Maintenance & Support: Support business inquiries through small enhancements, break/fix implementations, and post-production support.Systems Administration: Monitor application performance, manage configurations, and oversee backups within a JBoss or Cloud environment.
Technical RequirementsExpert Java: 10+ years of professional experience in Java (v8 and above) within a Financial Institution.Modern Frontend: Proficiency in Angular and React for building intuitive financial dashboards.Database Mastery: Advanced SQL skills and experience with major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).Architecture: Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Design Patterns, and RESTful API design.Version Control: Expert use of Git or similar tools.Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
Preferred Skills & Domain KnowledgeDomain Expertise: Specific exposure to Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage, or Secured Funding workflows.Microservices & Integration: Experience with Microservices Architecture and messaging queues (MQ).Data & Automation: Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), Python, or R for data integration and analysis.Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP; experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions.Workflow Tools: Experience with JIRA for task management and AutoSys for job scheduling.Environment: Familiarity with JBoss environments and experience in upgrading legacy Java applications to modern versions.
