Hybrid - 3 days per week on-site in Mansfield

We’re seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join a forward-thinking team building mission-critical digital products for one of the fastest-evolving platforms in the retail technology space. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help shape and scale backend services that support a large suite of high-traffic websites and mobile applications.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams to design, build and maintain robust backend systems.

Develop scalable microservices and APIs using modern technologies and cloud-native practices.

Design and maintain GraphQL & REST interfaces to enable seamless integration across services.

What You’ll Bring

Prior experience with backend languages and frameworks — ideally TypeScript and Node.js.

Proven work with microservices architecture powering large, distributed platforms.

Strong knowledge of GraphQL / REST API design plus SQL/NoSQL data stores.

Understanding of the software development lifecycle, automated testing, CI/CD and delivery automation.

Nice to Have

Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Azure) and containerisation.

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and event-driven systems.

A mindset that embraces continuous improvement, innovation and high performance.

Why This Matters

This role sits at the heart of building backend services that power seamless and resilient digital experiences across a broad retail tech ecosystem. You’ll influence how products scale and operate under real-world, high-traffic conditions, all while working alongside a supportive, agile team.
