Position Summary

The Fabrication Assembler (FA) levels 1-3 is responsible for building custom finished aircraft component parts. The work is based on unique aircraft programs, not typical assembly line work. The level of complexity of the FA role ranges from entry level to subject matter expert. This position uses a wide range of hand tools and machines and will be reading blueprints, gathering materials, using various techniques to connect and secure parts, and performing high-complexity assemblies. The Level 2 FA will have experience supporting customer pickups and job completions post First Article or Prototype. Capable of bonding and fabricating the majority of furniture produced within the shop.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Fabrication and Assembly: Fabricating and assembling interior panels and assemblies according to processes unique to each program design.
Material Handling: Work with adhesives, resins, honeycomb core, carpet, fiberglass, and aluminum.
Component Installation: Install fittings (latches, hinges, brackets) and prepare panels for adhesive.
Finishing: Apply decorative finishes, perform bending/assembly using jigs/fixtures, create vinyl laminate layups.
Tool Operation: Use routers, table saws, band saws, drill presses, etc.
Quality Control: Perform visual checks, in-process rework, maintain records.
Following Instructions: Work from drawings, specifications, and verbal instructions.
Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain clean work area.

Knowledge/Experience:

Ability to read/interpret technical drawings.
Proficient with hand and power tools.
Knowledge of fabrication materials.
Strong attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills.
Teamwork and safety awareness.

Levels:

Level 1: 0–2 years aerospace manufacturing experience (preferred). Entry-level, first stage articles, works closely with mentors.
Level 2: 2–5 years manufacturing experience, interprets/authors/executes assembly and component test requirements. Moderate complexity articles, works with lead/manager.
Level 3: 5+ years aerospace manufacturing, mechanical/electrical aptitude, works autonomously on highly complex articles, identifies issues and solutions.
