Role summary:

We have an opportunity for an innovative, dynamic and commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join our highly motivated business to play a key role in advancing our in-house legal function for fixed term maternity leave cover.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel will be a member of the Legal Department and in addition to undertaking a range of commercial tasks, may assist with compliance and other legal training to the respective sales and engineering teams

Skills/Responsibilities:

Review/drafting/negotiation of non-standard sales of goods and services bespoke contracts in the technology and manufacturing space.
Litigation management.
Competition law analysis.
GDPR analysis and Data Processing Addendum drafting.
Employment law support.
IoT, software, data and AI law advisory.
In addition to advising the UK business, providing ad hoc advice to our EU HQ corporate office and Japanese colleagues.
Commercial project activities: for example, M&A, JVs, business restructuring, business closure, termination of distributors/agents and R&D agreements.
Working with a team of up to four other legal staff in the department.

Experience Required:

Have achieved a minimum of 6PQE (obtained either in a combination of private practice and inhouse legal or 100% inhouse legal), qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and hold a valid practising certificate, or be able to obtain same.
Have experience working inhouse with a product/service sales company or manufacturer;
Advanced competency in drafting, reviewing and negotiating general B2B sales and procurement agreements;
Have experience in large distribution and commercial contracts, data protection and general IT/cloud service and licensing agreements; and
Be an autonomous self-starter and demonstrate experience of supporting a diverse group of businesses.
