We are excited to introduce a brand-new opportunity at Pride Veterinary Referrals – a 12-month Rotating Veterinary Nurse Internship, the first programme of its kind within IVC Evidensia. Designed for RVNs looking to develop their skills within a specialist-led referral environment, this structured internship combines hands-on clinical rotations with dedicated mentorship, protected study time and in-house CPD.

This role offers a unique chance to build a strong foundation in referral nursing while being fully supported as part of a large, experienced hospital team.

About The Job

As a Veterinary Nurse Intern, you will be employed on a 12-month fixed-term contract and rotate through core referral disciplines, gaining broad exposure to advanced caseloads and specialist-led care.

You Will Rotate Through

Theatre & Anaesthesia
Medicine
Neurology
Wards

Rotations follow a structured 6-week rolling rota to ensure balanced exposure and continuity of clinical support. You will work alongside experienced nurses, clinicians and specialists, developing confidence and competence across inpatient care, anaesthesia support, advanced nursing techniques and emergency care.

Alongside your clinical role, you will take part in a formal training programme including:

Funded RECOVER BLS & ALS certification
Monthly Journal Club
Monthly in-house seminars delivered by nurses and clinicians
Completion of a clinical audit
Required completion of IVC Evidensia referral nurse online training
3 hours of protected study time per week

You will also contribute to the weekend and on-call rota, supporting Pride’s out-of-hours services as part of the wider nursing team.

This programme delivers 45+ hours of CPD across the 12 months, alongside day-to-day experiential learning in a referral setting.

About The Practice

Pride Veterinary Referrals is a large, multi-disciplinary referral hospital offering gold-standard care across a wide range of specialties. Our facilities include 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, CT, MRI and digital x-ray, multiple ultrasound rooms, endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, plus dedicated chemo and radio-iodine treatment areas.

You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive and highly skilled nursing team, working alongside specialists and advanced practitioners in a collaborative learning environment. Pride has a strong reputation for developing nurses, and this internship represents a renewed commitment to supporting early referral nurse career pathways.

Candidate Requirements

RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
Ideally 6–18 months post-qualification experience (hospital experience desirable), though we will welcome applications from newly qualified RVNs too
Enthusiastic about learning and developing within a referral environment
Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
Willingness to participate in a rotating rota, including weekends and on-call
This role would suit an RVN who is keen to explore referral nursing, build confidence across disciplines, and progress their career with structured support.

Working pattern

12 month internship beginning May 2026
Average 38 hours per week
Rotational shift patterns across clinical services
Participation in weekend and on-call rota
3 hours protected study time per week included within working hours

Salary And Benefits

Salary: £29,000 per annum
6.6 weeks annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
