Uplifter is a fast-growing SaaS platform powering thousands of sport organizations across North America — from community clubs to national governing bodies and major championship events. Our platform processes millions of registrations, memberships, payments, and compliance workflows every year.

We’re entering a major platform modernization phase and building a high-performing engineering hub in Burnaby. This is a rare opportunity to shape architecture, scale complex systems, and work on software used by millions of participants.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Django) to help build the next generation of Uplifter’s platform. This is a hands-on role focused on backend systems, API design, scalability, and architectural improvement.

You’ll work closely with our Engineering Lead and senior engineers to modernize core services and deliver high-impact features for clubs, federations, and national sport organizations.

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain backend services using Python and Django
Design and scale APIs supporting high-volume transactional workflows
Contribute to architecture modernization and system scalability
Improve performance, reliability, observability, and data integrity
Collaborate closely with product, QA, and engineering in a hybrid, in-office team
Document technical decisions and system design

What We’re Looking For

Required

5–8+ years of backend engineering experience
Strong Python and Django expertise (Django REST Framework a plus)
Experience designing scalable APIs and backend services
Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)

Nice to Have

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
Exposure to microservices or service decomposition
Background in SaaS, multi-tenant, or high-volume systems
