With a growing footprint and an evolving regulatory landscape, we are looking to grow the Internal Audit function, which is essential in providing the Board with independent assurance over the health of the business. Internal audit is also able to positively influence key decisions in shaping the future of Acorn.

Location: Liverpool offices with hybrid working
Salary: £Competitive depending on experience
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you will be doing:
Audit Planning & Execution
Help the Head of Internal Audit with the delivery of the Internal Audit plan
Lead audits covering the key business activities of the Acorn Group, which includes Haven Insurance (based in Gibraltar) and the UK-based distribution entities such as Acorn Insurance and Financial Services, Granite Finance, MyPolicy Limited, etc.
Risk & Control Assessment
Evaluate adequacy of internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
Identify emerging risks in insurance operations and financial services.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure adherence and monitor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Reporting & Recommendations
Prepare clear, actionable audit reports for senior management and Audit Committee.
Recommend improvements to processes, controls, and governance frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with business units to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
Act as a trusted advisor on risk and control matters.
Attend and participate in Committees and Working Groups
Team Leadership
Mentor audit staff, ensuring quality and consistency in audit work.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ethical conduct.

Who We Are Looking For:
A 2:1 degree in any discipline – Accounting, Finance, Business or related fields preferred
2-3 years Post Qualifications Experience would be preferred
Experience within Insurance or Financial Service would be advantageous
Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
Curiosity, resilience and a proactive approach to learning
Excellent attention to detail and high ethical standards
Above all, we are looking for someone who demonstrates professional curiosity with sound judgement, i.e. having an interest in how the business operates, asking thoughtful questions, and seeking to understand the “why” behind policies and processes. A blend of curiosity and professional judgement is especially vital in Internal Audit, where insight and influence are just as important as independence and control assessments.
