About SkinScanner:
We aggregate live pricing data from dozens of marketplaces, process millions of data points, and surface the best deals, price movements, and trading opportunities for players and traders. Think Skyscanner, but for digital gaming assets. We’re an early-stage startup with 10,000+ users, and engineering sits at the core of everything we do.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll work closely with senior engineers and founders on live production systems, shipping real code used by people around the world. You’ll see features go from idea → implementation → production → improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Building and improving platform features, working with APIs and databases, learning how to handle large volumes of market data, improving performance and reliability, and collaborating closely with product and operations in a fast-moving startup environment.
Who this role is for:
Someone early in their software engineering career with solid fundamentals, experience in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, and strong personal or side projects. You should be curious, proactive, and comfortable learning through real-world problems. Interest in gaming or marketplaces is a bonus, not a requirement.
Tech stack:
Python, Django, FastAPI, JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue, PostgreSQL, Docker, CI/CD, GitHub (you don’t need to know all of these).
What you’ll get:
Competitive pro-rated salary and pension, 26 days annual leave per year plus UK bank holidays (pro-rated — 13 days annual leave over 6 months plus any bank holidays during employment), real production impact, direct mentorship from senior engineers and founders, and genuine early-stage startup experience.
Location requirement:
Applicants must already be based in the Liverpool City Region.
How to apply:
Apply with your CV (GitHub or portfolio encouraged). Initial interview is remote, followed by a short technical discussion or task and a final interview.
If you want to learn fast, ship real code, and understand how real platforms are built, we’d love to hear from you.
