Network Engineer (ACI/Firewalls)
Contract: 6 months Inside IR35
Location: Remote UK
Day rate: £400 - £500
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer (ACI/FW) to join a highly technical team supporting large-scale enterprise network environments. This role will focus on Cisco ACI fabric operations, Firewall technologies, and collaboration with engineering teams delivering critical infrastructure and migration projects.
You will work within a mature organisation with established processes and a structured change management framework, contributing to both BAU operations and project-based work.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), including:
Fabric design and setup
Configuration and policy management
Day-to-day operations and troubleshooting
In-depth knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
Proven experience with FortiGate Firewalls and FortiManager, including:
Firewall rule configuration
Static routing
Policy management and troubleshooting
Experience with automation and Scripting tools such as Python and Ansible to streamline network operations (highly desirable), particularly for ACI and F5-related deployments
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with:
F5 migration engineers
Technical Leads and wider infrastructure teams
Experience working within large enterprise environments with mature operational processes and rigid change management frameworks
Nice to Have
Exposure to or hands-on experience with F5 platforms
Relevant certifications, such as:
Cisco CCNP Data Center
Cisco ACI specialist certifications
