Product Manager, Amplify
Department Overview
The PG&E Innovation Accelerator leverages customer-centric start-up methodologies to ideate, incubate, and accelerate new internal initiatives to market that are optimized for impact.
Amplify is an Innovation Accelerator venture in the accelerate stage, dedicated to helping residential customers go electric. We're creating a new kind of customer experience—building digital products, services, and partnerships that make the transition simpler, faster, and more affordable by reducing friction across vehicle selection, incentives, installation, and grid connection.
The Amplify venture lives within PG&E’s Electrification and Decarbonization department, which exists to create an electrified California where customers choose efficient and decarbonized buildings and transportation.
Position Summary
The Amplify Product Manager will be the sole product manager and will own the end-to-end customer experience from “electrification-curious” to “confidently electrified”, with a focus on driving residential EV adoption in the near term and expanding to whole home electrification.
This role is responsible for developing product requirements, designing user experiences, orchestrating pilots and demonstrations, and managing the full product delivery for Amplify’s customer-facing offerings. The Product Manager will collaborate closely with technology, operations, marketing, and external partners to deliver seamless, innovative solutions that accelerate customer electrification.
As part of the small Amplify venture team, you'll work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within PG&E, moving quickly from idea to implementation while building toward enterprise scale.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs, in addition to traveling to customer and partner sites as needed. The assigned work location will be the Oakland General Office. The role reports to the Amplify General Manager.
PG&E is providing the hourly range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting: $70-$115.
Please note: the successful candidate will be hired as a contractor (W-2 via vendor), with the possibility of conversion to full-time employee with benefits in the future.
Job Responsibilities
In addition to standard PM responsibilities, the Amplify Product Manager will:
Orchestrate digital-to-physical service delivery — Design and manage end-to-end customer journeys that span digital touchpoints (e.g., AI chat, web) and physical services (e.g., home electrical assessments, contractor dispatch), ensuring seamless handoffs and information continuity across channels
Design and lead customer-facing pilots — Own the full pilot lifecycle from design through execution and meaning-making, including go-to-market strategy, customer operations, and scaling decisions, not just product requirements
Drive cross-functional alignment for corporate electrification vision — Connect Amplify’s product roadmap to PG&E’s broader customer electrification strategy, building partnerships across internal teams to advance a unified customer experience beyond the venture’s core scope
Build strategic partnerships with automotive OEMs and other ecosystem players — Develop and manage external partnerships critical to the product, extending beyond typical vendor relationships to include automotive and electrification partners
Navigate startup velocity within enterprise constraints — Marry fast iteration and startup methodologies with PG&E’s regulatory environment
Qualifications
You must have:
Successfully launched and scaled B2C service products with physical components
Led customer-facing pilots or operations from design through execution
Demonstrated expertise in understanding customer behavior and motivations and personally applying these insights to product design
Built and managed external go-to-market partnerships
Orchestrated digital-to-physical customer experiences with multiple touchpoints
A passion for climate tech, clean transportation, or electrification
It would be a plus if you also have:
Automotive industry experience
EV adoption, home electrification, or energy program experience
Experience in regulated environments
Experience with customer data architecture and privacy policies
