Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Network Security Operations
Monitor network traffic and security alerts to identify indicators of compromise, malicious activity, lateral movement, or abnormal behavior.
Investigate and respond to network-based security incidents involving firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, and cloud connectivity.
Support detection, coordination, and response efforts for DDoS events.
Maintain and enhance network security controls, including ACLs, VLAN segmentation, VPN configurations, and IDS/IPS signatures.
Manage and review security logs from enterprise tools such as SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, NetFlow analyzers, and EDR/XDR solutions.
Oversee email security and mail flow, including phishing detection, email header analysis, and enforcement of email security standards (DMARC, DKIM, SPF knowledge is a plus).
Administer content filtering platforms, assess website and URL risk, and leverage domain registration and reputation data when evaluating threats.
Network Infrastructure Support
Collaborate with Networking and IT Operations teams to troubleshoot security-related connectivity, authentication, and routing issues.
Maintain strong DNS security practices, including DNS record management, resolution integrity, and protections against DNS-based attacks.
Work with F5 or comparable load balancing and DNS traffic management technologies to ensure secure and reliable traffic distribution.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
2–5 years of experience in IT, networking, or network security.
Solid understanding of network architectures, protocols, and traffic analysis.
Hands-on experience with security operations, incident response, or forensic investigations.
Working knowledge of DNS, Active Directory, routing and switching, and authentication services.
Experience using security and monitoring tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, NetFlow, and packet capture utilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field.
Experience with enterprise firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access technologies.
Familiarity with DDoS mitigation concepts, threat hunting practices, and network security frameworks.
