Platform Engineer (Kubernetes & Automation)

Rate: £500-550 p/d (Inside IR35)

Location: Sheffield City Centre (Hybrid – 60% office / 40% home)

Contract: Until 30/11/2026

Sector: Banking

We’re hiring a Platform Engineer to support a Major UK bank’s Core Platform Engineering team. You’ll be working on a large-scale hybrid server estate that underpins business-critical services, with a strong focus on Kubernetes, automation and operational excellence.

This is a hands-on role suited to engineers who enjoy working across build, run and improve activities in complex enterprise environments.

What you’ll be doing:

Operating and maintaining large-scale Kubernetes (K8s) platforms
Delivering engineering, fulfilment and operational tasks across the core platform
Implementing and configuring platform changes
Automating operational processes using Python, Ansible, GitHub, Jira and Jenkins
Troubleshooting incidents and driving continuous improvement

What we’re looking for:

Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience
Proven background in automation
Solid Linux, networking and container ecosystem knowledge

Nice to have:

Experience supporting large server estates or enterprise platform environments

Ways of working:
