Position: Business System Analyst
Location: Toronto Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
Lead data discovery and profiling across multiple source systems; define source‑to‑target mappings, transformation rules, and data lineage.
Write and optimize advanced SQL (window functions, CTEs, query plans) to analyze large datasets, validate transformations, and enhance performance.
Build Python scripts/notebooks for data wrangling, reconciliation, exception detection, and repeatable data quality automation.
Partner with data engineering to design and validate ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration on AWS/Azure/Snowflake, with attention to partitioning, clustering, and cost/performance.
Create curated, BI‑ready datasets and dimensional models supporting reporting and self‑service analytics.
Establish and monitor data quality controls (completeness, accuracy, timeliness), reconciliation checks, and alerting; drive root‑cause analysis and remediation.
Define and operationalize Wealth Management KPIs and dashboards (e.g., AUM, flows, portfolio performance & attribution, revenue/fees, risk/compliance metrics).
Analyze and document the trade lifecycle (order → allocation → confirmation → settlement) and model positions/holdings, cost basis/loting, corporate actions, and income events.
Support Wealth Management use cases such as client & householding, product taxonomy (equities, fixed income, funds, ETFs, alternatives), advisor productivity, and portfolio monitoring/rebalancing.
Translate business objectives into precise data and technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain a prioritized backlog with clear dependencies.
Plan and execute testing/UAT for data products and reports; construct representative test datasets (including edge cases), triage defects, and secure stakeholder sign‑offs.
Produce and maintain documentation (data dictionaries, mapping specs, runbooks); promote continuous improvement across data pipelines, SLAs, and observability.
