Automation Engineer – Zscaler Focused

Contract Type: 6 Month Contract

Day Rate: £550 per day

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer with a strong focus on Zscaler technologies to join on a 6-month contract basis. Operating inside IR35 at £550 per day, this role will drive the adoption and expansion of automation capabilities across Zscaler use cases, reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency within a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the implementation of Itential as the centralised automation platform for Zscaler-driven workflows and operational use cases.
Design and deliver automation solutions for operational activities including:
Standard change execution
BAU service requests
Reporting and data extraction
Application and Cloud Connector deployments
Integration with ServiceNow and related tooling
Develop automation capabilities to translate Palo Alto firewall policies into ZPA configurations, addressing existing operational technology (OT) backlog requirements.
Define and implement automation standards, reusable frameworks, and scalable workflow patterns to minimise manual engineering intervention.
Collaborate with network and security engineering teams to ensure automation aligns with architectural and governance standards.

Required Experience

Proven experience automating workflows within Zscaler environments (ZIA/ZPA preferred).
Hands-on experience with Itential or comparable network automation platforms.
Strong understanding of firewall policy management, ideally including Palo Alto technologies.
Experience integrating automation tooling with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.
Ability to operate within structured enterprise governance frameworks and deliver measurable efficiency improvements.
