Senior AI/.NET Developer - Contract - Toronto
We are seeking a Senior-level Data & AI Engineer with strong foundations in .NET, Azure, and modern AI frameworks to join an expanding AI engineering function. This role combines robust engineering with practical AI delivery.
You’ll architect, design, and build scalable cloud solutions while contributing hands-on to AI workflows, data pipelines, and automation. This is not a research role, it’s for a self-directed, solutions driven engineer who thrives on building real, production-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Development
Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade frameworks using .NET 6+ and C#.
Build REST APIs with OAUTH authentication and reusable components for scalable enterprise use.
Develop AI enabled features leveraging Python, TensorFlow, and other modern AI toolsets.
Contribute directly to technical decisions, system architecture, and solution design.
Azure Cloud & Data Engineering
Build and maintain cloud-native solutions across Azure: SQL PaaS, App Services, Function Apps, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Databricks
Design cloud architectures and select the right Azure service for the job (load/performance/volume‑based decisioning).
Enhance and support data pipelines, ETL workflows, and distributed data processing.
AI / ML Engineering
Work with modern AI frameworks to deliver practical, production ready AI capabilities.
Apply AI patterns to structured data environments and evolving business use cases.
Bring your knowledge of current AI tools, trends, and industry solutions to drive innovation.
Collaboration & Contribution
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, architects, and product stakeholders.
Share knowledge, contribute to best practices, and drive modern engineering culture.
Bring ideaswith a proactive, autonomous mindset.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of .NET development (C#, .NET 6+ mandatory).
Strong experience in Python for data and AI workloads.
Deep experience in modern Azure cloud services (architecture + hands-on).
Strong SQL/database engineering background.
Proven experience building REST APIs with OAUTH.
Experience with data engineering, ETL, and data pipeline orchestration.
PowerShell scripting & automation experience.
Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Autosys).
Experience with AI frameworks (TensorFlow preferred) and understanding of key AI tools in today’s market.
Ability to work independently, contribute ideas, and operate without constant guidance.
