Lead AI / ML Engineer (GenAI) - London - £120,000 - £140,000 + bonus

A scaling financial technology platform is investing in production-grade Generative AI and is hiring a Lead AI/ ML Engineer to design and deliver intelligent systems across its core product.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on embedding LLM-powered capabilities into a secure, regulated SaaS environment. The emphasis is on real-world deployment from previous either Fintech or Financial Servies experience.

Within the role, you will:

Design and deploy Generative AI features within a live production platform
Build and optimise RAG pipelines using structured and unstructured financial data
Implement model fine-tuning, evaluation, and monitoring frameworks
Integrate third-party LLM APIs into existing microservice architecture
Work closely with product and engineering leadership to shape AI use cases
Ensure security, auditability and governance in line with financial services requirements

What They’re Looking For:

6+ years in AI / Machine Learning engineering
Demonstrable experience shipping LLM-powered systems into production

Strong understanding of:

Fine-tuning techniques
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
Prompt optimisation
Model evaluation and performance monitoring
Experience integrating external AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, etc.) via API
Strong Python skills and familiarity with modern ML frameworks
Experience working in financial services or regulated environments (FinTech preferred)
Understanding of secure data handling and compliance considerations

This is a hybrid role, 2-days per week in the office near Blackfriars.
