Principal Project Engineer – Pipeline Installation Methods

Location: Paris, France (+ mission offshore and onshore yards)

International projects / Offshore assignments required

Start: ASAP

Contract: Permanent or Freelance (to be defined)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Project Engineer (Installation Methods) to join a high-performing Pipeline Engineering team supporting global offshore pipelay operations.

This role plays a critical part in defining and delivering safe, efficient and innovative pipeline installation solutions across tender and execution phases.

You will act as a technical authority within installation engineering and may lead multidisciplinary teams from early project engagement through offshore execution onboard installation vessels.

Key Responsibilities

Lead or support a team of installation / methods engineers on global offshore projects
Develop and review pipeline installation method statements and procedures
Coordinate installation engineering activities for Reel-Lay, S-Lay and J-Lay operations
Perform installation rigging calculations and rigging design
Support subcontractor selection and technical evaluations
Contribute to procurement follow-up and installation aid fabrication
Assist tendering teams with:
Feasibility studies
Manhour estimates
Schedule inputs
Costing and methodology optimization
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders
Follow installation scope offshore onboard pipelay vessels
Support HSEQ compliance throughout project lifecycle

Required Profile

Engineering degree (Marine / Offshore / Naval / Mechanical / Civil or equivalent)
Significant experience in offshore pipeline installation engineering
Strong knowledge of:
Reel-Lay
S-Lay
J-Lay
Proven experience leading engineering teams
Experience in tender phase and execution phase projects
Strong understanding of offshore installation constraints and vessel operations
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface at all business levels
Fluent English required
