We're looking for an experienced AI Product Engineer to lead the delivery of next-generation AI-powered products at Taranto Systems. As a senior member of our engineering team, you'll be an all-rounder responsible for architecting, building, and delivering commercial AI solutions that transform how local authorities manage parking and traffic enforcement and business processes across the UK. You’ll be somebody who enjoys using AI tools (such as Claude Code), more than traditional methods, to deliver solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end delivery of AI-enhanced commercial products from concept through to deployment
Architect scalable, robust solutions that integrate seamlessly with our existing platforms and client systems
Make strategic technical decisions regarding AI frameworks, tools, and approaches best suited to business requirements
Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of innovation
Collaborate with stakeholders to define product strategy and roadmaps
Drive technical innovation by researching and evaluating emerging AI technologies and their commercial applications
Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for product deployment and monitoring
Establish best practices for development, testing, and quality assurance
Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements, present solutions, and gather feedback
Contribute to business development activities including technical due diligence for new opportunities

Required Experience & Skills

5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML product development
Proven track record of delivering commercial AI products from conception to production
Deep expertise and experience with AI/ML frameworks and LLM platforms
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design principles
Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerisation
Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions balancing innovation, practicality, and commercial considerations
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Desirable Requirements

Experience in the public sector, government systems, or regulated industries
Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, UK data protection laws)
Background in building document processing, automation, or decision support systems
Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems
Experience with API design and microservices architectures
Track record of contributing to technical strategy and R&D initiatives

What We Offer

£65,000 - £75,000 DOE
Flexible working arrangements to suit work-life balance.
Remote working option. Travel to our Liverpool office will be required, as necessary.
