AI Engineer

London – Hybrid (2–3 days onsite per week)

12 month inside IR35 Contract Opportunity

A major financial institution is building the next generation of its engineering platform and is seeking Agentic SDLC Engineers to help transform how software is built and delivered.

This role focuses on integrating AI agents into the Software Development Lifecycle, enabling engineering teams to automate traditionally manual development workflows and significantly accelerate delivery.

The Opportunity

You will work at the forefront of AI-driven software engineering, helping introduce agentic capabilities into the SDLC. This includes designing and building tooling that enables AI agents to support developers across the entire development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate engineering leadership in applying agent-based workflows within modern SDLC environments
Integrate AI agents into development processes traditionally handled by engineers
Develop VSCode extensions and tooling that enhance developer productivity
Implement RAG and MCP integrations to enable intelligent development workflows
Define standards and policies for how AI agents interact with engineering teams
Work closely with platform engineering teams to evolve modern development practices

Key Skills & Experience

Strong understanding of modern SDLC workflows including requirements, decomposition, DoR, branching strategies, and pull request processes
Experience building developer tooling and integrations
Hands-on experience with VSCode or IntelliJ IDE environments
Experience with GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development tools
Strong knowledge of GCP cloud-native engineering
Experience with Jira, Confluence, and modern DevOps toolchains
Familiarity with Harness or similar CI/CD platforms
