Fullstack Java & Angular Engineer (Security-Focused)

Hybrid – 1 day per month onsite in Oxford

Contract

We’re hiring a security-focused Fullstack Java Engineer (Java + Angular) to support the modernisation of high-availability, cloud-native digital services operating at scale.

This role is centred around secure coding, scalable architecture, relational database design, and strong cross-team communication within a DevSecOps environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Designing and building secure, scalable microservices

• Developing high-performance REST APIs backed by Postgres / Oracle (advanced SQL, performance tuning, schema design)

• Modernising legacy systems into resilient, cloud-native architectures

• Embedding secure coding standards, identity and secrets management

• Supporting CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments (Docker/Kubernetes)

• Working closely with engineering, product, QA and platform teams

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong Java backend development

• Angular (or similar modern frontend framework)

• Strong relational database experience (Postgres / Oracle + SQL optimisation)

• Solid understanding of secure coding and application security

• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP

• Strong communicator comfortable in cross-functional teams

Nice to Have:

• Docker & Kubernetes

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible)

• Observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana)

• Experience in regulated or security-conscious environments
