Job Specifications

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

NHS Borders, in partnership with Marie Curie, is seeking dedicated and compassionate professionals to join a pioneering 12-month pilot project. This initiative aims to model and enhance care for people who are dying at home across the Eildon localitycovering Lauder, Earlston, Melrose, Selkirk, and Galashiels and sur-rounding areas with a centralised base in the areawithin the Scottish Borders.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their families and carers, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness or life shortening condition do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

We Want a Different Society Than The One We Live In Now. Our Mission For The Next Five Years Is To Close The Gap In The Number Of People Missing Out On What They Need At The End Of Life, Through 3 Ways

Our mission and vision echo the heart of NHS Borders Clinical Strategy and Scotland’s National Palliative Care Strategy, striving to ensure every person experience care that matters to them.
