We’re supporting one of the UK’s largest consumer digital platforms as they scale their engineering capability across several high-traffic products used by millions of customers.

They’re looking for Senior / Lead Full-Stack TypeScript Engineers with deep GraphQL expertise to help evolve and scale their API architecture. This role sits within a high-performing product engineering team responsible for building and maintaining critical services that power modern web and mobile experiences.

You’ll play a key role in designing and evolving GraphQL schemas, improving API architecture, and delivering performant full-stack applications within a mature engineering environment.

This is an opportunity to work on complex distributed systems at significant scale, collaborating with experienced engineers across backend, frontend, and platform teams.

What You’ll Be Doing | Senior / Lead Full-Stack TypeScript Engineer (GraphQL Specialist) | Contract | TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL | Large-Scale Media Platform | £500-600/day Outside IR35 | 6 Months | London Hybrid 2 days

Design and evolve GraphQL schemas and API architecture for large-scale consumer platforms
Build and maintain high-performance backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
Develop full-stack features across modern TypeScript applications
Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and performant under heavy traffic loads
Collaborate with frontend teams to define clean, well-structured GraphQL contracts
Improve API performance, observability, and reliability
Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design decisions
Work closely with platform and infrastructure teams to support scalable deployments
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code within an established engineering environment

What We’re Looking For | Senior / Lead Full-Stack TypeScript Engineer (GraphQL Specialist) | Contract | TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL | Large-Scale Media Platform | £500-600/day Outside IR35 | 6 Months | London Hybrid 2 days

Strong experience building production systems with Node.js and TypeScript
Deep experience with GraphQL, particularly:
Designing and maintaining GraphQL schemas
Building GraphQL APIs and resolvers
Improving API performance and query efficiency
Experience working on large-scale consumer or platform products
Strong understanding of API design, distributed systems, and scalable backend architecture
Comfortable collaborating across frontend and backend teams
Experience working in high-performing engineering environments

Nice to have:

Full-stack experience with modern TypeScript frontend frameworks
Experience working with high-traffic consumer platforms
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
