Planning Engineer – Energy / Industrial Projects

Overview

We are currently looking for a Planning Engineer to join a major engineering project in the energy and industrial sector.

The successful candidate will support the project team in developing, maintaining and monitoring project schedules while ensuring coordination between engineering, procurement and construction phases.

This position is ideal for a professional with strong experience in project planning within EPC or industrial environments.

Location Villeurbanne (Lyon area), France

Start Date March 2026

Duration Initial contract until October 2026, with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, update and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6
Support the development of the overall project schedule
Perform schedule analysis and resource loading
Monitor project progress and ensure schedule alignment with project objectives
Identify interfaces between engineering, procurement, contracts and construction
Perform critical path analysis and schedule risk analysis
Support progress tracking, forecasting and scenario analysis
Identify potential delays and propose preventive or corrective actions
Contribute to internal and external project reporting
Participate in project progress meetings and coordination meetings

Requirements

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience as Planning Engineer / Project Planner
Experience in Energy, Oil & Gas, Industrial, Chemical or Petrochemical projects
Experience in engineering or EPC project environments

Technical Skills

Primavera P6 (mandatory)
MS Project
Excel and Office tools

Competencies

Strong understanding of project phases and interfaces
Analytical mindset and strong organizational skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple stakeholders
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Languages

French: professional level required
English: intermediate level
