POSITION SUMMARY
eTrading Front-End UI developer
The eRates technology group is responsible for designing and supporting a large high performance real-time trading platform. The e-Trading and pricing platform supports market data, pricing, analytics, trading, orders, and real-time algorithms across multiple business lines including Rates, MBS, and Emerging Markets. Our platform connects to 40+ exchanges, serves over 2000+ clients internally and externally. As an eRates Front-End UI developer, you'll have an opportunity to work closely with technology-focused engineers and traders to modernize and build upon an existing trading platform using a mixture of existing and new technology frameworks.
The key initiatives funded for the next few years include Platform modernization, Global Markets growth, connectivity to new trading venues, Central Risk Book (algos to internalize trading flow), and Stability. We are looking forward to growing and transitioning our existing trading system to a next generation system.
This is a front-office facing role and allows for regular interaction with Traders, Operations, Support staff, and quantitative analysts.
WORK DESCRIPTION:
• Develop and enhance our primary Front-End UI trading platform that is used across regions, helping expand/modernize the capability
• Communicate regularly with traders and quantitative strategists to clarify requirements, design new capabilities, mock/wireframe designs, and address key issues
• Help drive transitioning functionality from a legacy UI to a more modern tech stack over the next few years
• Follow release and production change procedures and work with other teams to deliver and maintain reliable and functional front-office pricing and trading applications.
• Participate in rotational production support level 3 activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Clear articulate communication skills - We collaborate often and look for developers that are able to break problems down analytically and explain the pros/cons of why and alternatives.
• Demonstrated experience working in a front-office facing role, interacting with Traders.
• Experienced with agile and modern software development/DevOps practices. Ability to describe previous projects they've participated in using iterative development, CI/CD, automated testing and why those disciplines are useful and important.
• Five to Seven years of hands-on core Java experience. Core Java 8 or higher programming language experience is a must-have. if you have experience with both Java and C# it is a big plus
• Java Swing UI framework running on a Windows trader desktop is our primary technology platform. Working experience with enhancing and refactoring Swing Based UIs is a preferred skillset.
• Experience with Real-Time UIs and implementations involving:
- GUI performance handling live ticking market data and orders
- front end/back end integration
- object oriented design
- message-based architecture
- multithreaded models
- service oriented architecture
• Solid analytical skills and strong technical or engineering background.
• Desire and a positive attitude to work in a front-office development and to respond to and address production situations promptly.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team-oriented setting. We offer a Hybrid working style.
• Java: strong in multi-threading programming and messaging middleware (such as publish/subscribe, JMS, and Tibco RV or similar technologies).
• Experience refactoring existing code and working on performance or design issues
• Eagerness to design extensible modules and ensure that code is cleanly written, testable and maintainable by others
• Skillsets – Linux, Windows, Core Java, Spring Framework, Ansible, Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket, Artifactory, Unit testing
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Knowledge and experience of Fixed Income market and electronic trading (Treasuries, Swaps, Futures, etc.) or have worked on and designed similar electronic trading systems (for Equities, FX)
• Experience designing and building GUI modules and trader controls for Order Management, Order Execution, Marketdata, Request for Quote workflows such as popups, blotters.
• Experience migrating legacy projects to a CI/CD automated build and automated UI testing
• Experience and exposure to designing UIs using OpenFin, Finsemble, 3Forge, HTML5, ReactJS is a big plus.
