Job description:
IT Application Development Project Manager – Airline Cargo & Warehouse Modernization
We are seeking an experienced IT Application Development Project Manager to lead technology initiatives for airline cargo warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise application delivery, warehouse management systems, integrations, and automation and a proven ability to modernize platforms, drive operational efficiency, and deliver reliable production releases.
Responsibilities:
Lead full lifecycle delivery of application development projects supporting cargo warehouse operations.
Manage modernization programs including warehouse automation, system upgrades, and platform transformations.
Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, resource forecasts, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure alignment with business priorities, operational KPIs, and regulatory requirements.
Provide executive-level reporting on status, risks, issues, and financials.
Partner with warehouse operations leaders to define technology roadmaps that support throughput, safety, compliance, and service levels.
Drive implementation and enhancement of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Lead integrations across cargo handling systems, ERP, tracking, customs systems, and partner interfaces.
Support automation initiatives including scanning technologies, robotics, IoT, and real-time inventory tracking.
Ensure availability, performance, and resilience of mission-critical warehouse applications.
Collaborate with development teams using Agile, Scrum, or hybrid methodologies and translate business requirements into technical delivery plans.
Oversee vendors and system integrators, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, security policies, and DevOps practices.
Drive quality assurance, testing coordination, cutover planning, and successful production releases.
Identify process inefficiencies and recommend technology-enabled solutions to improve cargo flow and warehouse utilization.
Support data analytics initiatives for visibility, turnaround times, and operational decision-making.
Lead post-implementation reviews and benefits realization tracking; champion digital innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5–8+ years of IT project management experience in application development.
Proven delivery of enterprise application modernization initiatives.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors or integrators.
Proficiency in Agile and Waterfall methodologies with practical governance.
Strong financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in airline cargo operations or air freight logistics.
Exposure to warehouse automation technologies such as robotics, conveyor systems, RFID, and IoT.
Knowledge of cargo compliance and regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices.
