Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering Lead - Commodities Trading - Toronto, Canada

About the Role

Cititec has partnered with a global commodities trading firm is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering Lead to design, build and optimise the infrastructure platform supporting its trading, data and AI workloads.

While the organisation operates in a cloud-native environment, high-performance trading and data systems require carefully designed infrastructure to deliver reliability, scalability and performance.

This role sits at the intersection of traditional infrastructure engineering and modern cloud platform development, ensuring the platform can support demanding distributed systems and advanced data workloads.

You will work closely with engineering teams across the business, including data and AI platform teams, to ensure the underlying infrastructure enables high-performance systems at scale.

What You’ll Do

Design and operate the firm’s cloud infrastructure platform
Build scalable, high-performance cloud architecture
Optimise infrastructure supporting trading systems and data platforms
Design and maintain network architecture across cloud environments
Implement and manage container platforms (Kubernetes)
Develop infrastructure automation and platform tooling
Support infrastructure requirements for data engineering and AI workloads
Ensure platform reliability, observability and operational resilience
Troubleshoot performance issues across distributed systems

Experience required

The ideal candidate combines strong infrastructure fundamentals with modern cloud platform engineering experience.
Infrastructure Fundamentals
Strong understanding of networking architecture
Experience with virtualisation and distributed infrastructure
Expertise in performance troubleshooting and optimisation
Experience operating high-availability production environments

Cloud and Platform Engineering

Strong experience with AWS, GCP or Azure
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container platforms
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation
Understanding of platform reliability and operational best practices
