Founding Senior Engineer | Pre-Seed Cybersecurity Startup | Remote (UK / Europe)

Are you an experienced engineer who's genuinely motivated by equity - and willing to back yourself to earn it?

This isn't a comfortable next step. It's a calculated risk with real upside - build something from scratch, get acquired, do it inside two years.

The founders are recognised leaders in application security —-one with a career finding critical vulnerabilities in enterprise software, the other with a decade closing security deals at the highest level.

Backing includes a specialist cyber VC alongside high-net-worth investors and hedge fund operators. Enterprise design partners from regulated industries are already queueing up.

The gap they're filling is real and growing fast - enterprises are deploying AI-generated code into regulated environments at speed - the infrastructure to make that trustworthy doesn't exist yet - this is where you come in.

The role

Engineer number #1 - proper greenfield project.

You'll set the architectural direction alongside the technical co-founder, build the data layer that captures how developers reason about code, and design the AI systems that use that data to harden AI-generated code in production.

Backend-first, full-stack when needed. The three engineers who follow will be shaped by the standard you set.

What they're looking for

5+ years backend experience across startup and enterprise environments - you've built products from scratch and shipped them into production.
Strong architectural opinions and the technical depth to back them up.
You've worked across multiple modern languages - Python, Go, TypeScript, Rust or Node.js - and have the breadth to make the right stack choices, not just execute within them.
Some hands-on experience with LLMs, applied AI or data pipelines is important; familiarity with developer tooling or application security is a genuine advantage.
A security-aware mindset and experience building in regulated environments will set you apart. Current MVP is Node.js, Supabase and Next.js - but if you can make the case for something better, they'll listen.

What's on offer

£70,000 - £90,000 base with a contracted ARR milestone uplift - explicit in the offer, not a vague promise.
Aggressive founding equity structured for a build-and-exit outcome.
Remote-first, occasional London visits when it makes sense. Ideally you'll be UK based but EU also considered.
