Position Title: Software Engineer II – Python / Hardware Control

Location: Redmond, WA

Job Type: CONTRACT – Remote

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description:

Client is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop Python-based software for controlling advanced lab systems used in wearables audio research. The role focuses on building reliable software that interacts with hardware devices, sensors, and experimental equipment in a research lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Python software for hardware control and lab automation
Build systems to collect, process, and analyze sensor and audio data
Implement real-time control algorithms for motors, sensors, and experimental systems
Integrate hardware interfaces such as PWM, serial, and Ethernet communication
Troubleshoot software + hardware integration issues in lab environments
Maintain clean documentation, version control, and configuration management

Required Skills

Strong Python programming (3.8+) and object-oriented design
Experience with hardware control, robotics, or lab automation
Scientific computing experience using NumPy, SciPy, or Pandas
Experience with data acquisition, sensors, or signal processing
Knowledge of Git, YAML/JSON configuration, and system debugging

Preferred Skills

Robotics or motion control systems
Audio signal processing or acoustics
Experience with experimental lab environments or R&D systems
